Sadly we say good bye to summer and hello to autumn which officially arrives September 22ndHere are some timely home maintenance tips
to get your home ready for fall Service Furnace or heating system. Clean and vacuum dust from vents, baseboard heaters and cold-air returns. Have a professional clean your chimney, make sure damper closes tightly. Install storm windows and door panel. Caulk around doors & windows. Install weather stripping . Clean out garage. Remove items that will freeze from unheated shed. Paint interior rooms while it's still warm enough to leave windows open. Shampoo or replace carpets. Remove & store window air-conditioning units. Or cover them with plastic to protect them over the winter. Tour the outside of your house to make sure that soils around the foundation are properly graded. Soil should slope four to six inches for a distance of three feet out from the foundation walls. Great time to purchase lawn & garden equipment. This is usually the time of year they are on sale.
